Integrated Ecosystem Assessments (IEA) require consideration of the full suite pressures and impacts affecting ecosystems. However, capacity limitations often severely limit our ability to do everything that we want or ‘should’ do, outside short-term fully-funded focused research projects. In order make IEA a reality in many contexts, priority has be given how achieve such comprehensive assessments. Ecoregions Large Marine Ecosystems (LMEs) have been identified as potential management units, however these large areas encompass diverse habitats, multiple nations with human communities use marine environments, multitude different strategies. this context, can an operational tool applied at high-level comparable, yet regionally-relevant adaptable approach? This paper outlines demonstration adaptation established risk assessment approach (Options for Delivering Ecosystem-Based Management: ODEMM) rapid scoping tool, using open source common analytical tools improve operationality both Mission Atlantic project International Council Exploration Seas (ICES) Assessment Working Groups. Furthermore, hierarchical is detailed allows integration levels detail into format. The resulting assessments are then ground-truthed stakeholders identify issues, omissions, conflicts, key interest next steps process.
